Core Gathering debrief…
This last Wednesday we had our very first Wednesday Night Service Core Gathering. A small group of committed members gathered together for dinner, song and vision casting. Pastor James preached the vision of the Wednesday night service as well as took time to answer questions about why Wednesday and how it could free up our Sundays to serve the city through community. The service was a great time for people committed to the Wednesday Night Service to come together, catch the vision, and praise God for the grace he has given us all at Mars Hill.
The service didn’t look like your typical Mars Hill service. Yes, there was stage lighting and well designed powerpoint but there was also tables and chairs, dinner, and a pastor sitting down on stage. The vision for the service has been different from the beginning. We’re approaching it much like a church plant would approach it’s launch. We feel called to let God grow this as he sees fit and we’re living that out practically by allowing Him to bring people to worship through service, song, and hearing the word of God preached. There hasn’t been a ton of advertising or promotion we’ve simply put the word out and those that feel called will come and be a part of the Wednesday Night core. We admittedly don’t have it all figured out, and we’re OK with that. We know that we serve a God who has had it all figured out since the beginning of time and we’re offering this service up to him to do with it whatever he sees fit. The service could stay small or could grow to be larger than our Sunday attendance, we just don’t know… it’s in God’s hands, and we think that makes it exciting!
If this sounds like something you’d like to be a part of, please come join us. Setup starts at 4:30PM, bring some dinner to share at 6PM or just show up for the service at 7PM and see if the Wednesday Night Service is something God is calling you to be a part of. Showing up doesn’t mean you are committed to be a Wednesday night worshipper. As Christians, we’re called to be everyday worshippers whether it be Wednesday night or Sunday morning.
