PETERING OUT

by: Rob Maxfield, Campus Operations Director

This week we concluded our Trial sermon series of 1st and 2nd Peter which we’ve been in since the middle of January. Pastor Mark did an excellent job walking through these books and pointing out how difficult and painful the Christian life can be. Whether it be temptation, submission, or worship, nothing in the Christian life is guaranteed to go easy for us. Fortunately, the grace of our Heavenly Father allows us to persevere through these difficult seasons and lean on Jesus to guide us into eternity.

In Matthew 11 Jesus has this promise for us “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

The Trial series as well as the rich history of Mars Hill sermons and music can be found in the Mars Hill Media Library at marshillchurch.org/media.

Coming up next week we launch into the brief It’s All About Jesus sermon series where both Pastor Mark and Pastor James will tackle what it means to be a disciple of Jesus. It’s not about the individual, it’s not about us, it’s all about Jesus.

Last night I attended to the Lake City Campus‘ monthly Night of Prayer. I was humbled to realize how rarely I sit in silence. It’s a discipline I do not enjoy. I am an “activist”, [...]
