Lake City Rocks the Mic, Watches the Block
The greater community around the Mars Hill Campus in Lake City has some places to come together for fun and community-building this week. The Lake City Chamber of Commerce put out this announcement today regarding the launch of Lake City Open Mic this Thursday. If you like local culture, supporting local musicians and artists, or want to break out of your isolation and embrace community, this is a great way to start.
“We’d love to see you help make this event a success with your performances! We look forward to seeing you and also members for our listening audience. This is a community building event– a time to relax, enjoy good music, and meet others who like to do the same. To professional artists, we welcome you and will appreciate your support, your presence, and your help in getting the word out about the Lake City Open Mic. We will appreciate it if you could post this event on your website, link to our facebook page, or forward this announcement to your friends who are up and coming performers.”
They’ve created a meet-up group for Open Mic. The link should take you right to the page. Please visit and if you like, join up!
Community gatherings are even more fun when the community has come together to make sure they are as safe as possible coming to and from such events. We invite all neighboring residents to attend the BLOCK WATCH MEETING Friday June 26th at 6:30pm. The meeting will be at 13711 32nd Ave NE in Lake City. Contact information is 206.420.4273.
Have a fun and safe rest of the week, and join us for services on Sunday at 9am, 11.15am and 5pm. We’ll be hosting some community events at Matthews Beach and in area homes coming up in the next few months as well, so stay tuned!
