Showing Christ Through Service
At Mars Hill Church Lake City it is our desire to love those in our community in many differing ways. One of those ways is serving others as Jesus came to serve. To show Christ’s love to those that are around us every day, in particularly to the poor and needy is something we should all be zealous for (Titus 3:8).
The Lake City Food bank (North Helpline) is in need of such service which presents a great opportunity for Mars Hill to step up and answer the call with a humble heart and loving attitude.
John 13:14-17
If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you. Truly, truly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.

A Message from North Helpline:
Dear Friends,
With summer upon us, the North Helpline/Lake City Food Bank is experiencing a shortage of volunteers to help us provide critical services to those most in need in our community. Our volunteer needs are as follows:
Wednesday & Thursday
People are needed to sort donated food and assist with a food bank distribution (food bank on Wednesday only). Hours between 9:00 AM and 1:30 PM. Time of arrival and length of time up to volunteer. Food arrives in boxes, bags, and crates. It needs to be sorted by food type for easier distribution on Wednesday and Saturday.
Friday
People are needed to bag produce and fruit. May also assist with bagging bulk items such as rice, dog food, potatoes, etc. Bread and pastry must also be sorted. Hours between 8:00 AM and 2:30 PM. A full truck arrives about 8:00 and another at noon. Food must be bagged, sorted and put away. Time of arrival and length of time up to volunteer. Muscle is also needed to off-load the trucks.
Saturday
Two shifts of volunteers needed. The first shift starts at 9:15 AM and ends at 11:45 AM. The second shift begins at 11:45 AM and ends at 2:30 PM. May assist with handing out food, carrying food to cars, or restocking food being distributed. Volunteers can also arrive at 8:00.
Please contact Kay Hardie (foodbank@northhelpline.org) , Food Bank Manager, at 206.367.3477 for more information.
Thank you in advance for your support.
