Single Serving is a ministry of Mars Hill: Lake City with a unique purpose. Culture dictates that singles have rights that couples have less of. Rights of time and money, opportunities and flexibility. But the Scriptures remind us that we will be a slave to something, either to Christ that brings freedom, or to sin that brings bondage.

And the implications of sin are serious. Many Christians perceive sin too lightly, allowing sin to continue without feeling the need to change.

The Christian life is not easy. Christ calls every man, woman, and child to forsake what is natural, and follow Him. This goes against the flesh, against culture, against everything any of us have ever known. In some ways, we become the living dead.

Mortification is the spiritual discipline of putting sin to death, before sin puts us to death.

If you are single, we invite you to Single Serving on Wednesday, February 11th at 6:30pm for an evening of fellowship, teaching, and prayer, as we learn what it means to put sin to death. This is a somber topic, but vital for those who would take their walk with Christ seriously.

Regular attenders will get a surprise as we trade one James for another — James Rose will be speaking instead of Pastor James.

I suspect this will mean less zombie references.
