Do the Doulos
Are you a REAL man? Do you really know what that means, or are you stepping to a cultural image of manliness?
But Jesus called them to him and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. It shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be your slave, even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” – Matthew 20:25-28
These incredible words spoken by God incarnate are reduced to pithy statements on our lips unless they are accompanied by corresponding actions. The real man is a doulos: a bondservant. Counter-cultural and offending many of our internal “sensibilities”, servanthood is the call of a real man who loves Jesus. How is this ACTUALLY playing itself out in the various spheres of your life, and where do you need to repent, renovate, and reorient yourself to be a better image-bearer?
All men are welcome to join us at 6.30pm Wednesday, February 4, to get real and learn how to serve like Jesus in the time and context he has placed us to reflect Him.
