Real Men Love Weddings
If you were a dude like me, you used to sleep through weddings. If you have a wife, or a date, you roll your eyes at their tears. Flowers, flowery speeches, and flustered family abounds. Snore. Reception. Repeat.
Revelation 19 tells us “Hallelujah! For the Lord our God the Almighty reigns. Let us rejoice and exult and give him the glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his Bride has made herself ready; it was granted her to clothe herself with fine linen, bright and pure”— for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints. And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.” And he said to me, “These are the true words of God.”
The Wedding takes on a whole new light when we understand the deep design of God behind it. At our the Real Men nights we’ve learned about our place in the world and culture and the need to suffer well together as brothers for the cause of Christ. This Wednesday, we’ll be looking at the core of the wedding and what that means for single and married men, a great end-cap to the Song of Songs with a special guest speaker and discussion.
Get ready to end the year facing our role in a spiritual war, walking through our wounds, looking forward to the great wedding in the kingdom and the modeling this calls us to now.
