Three Service Countdown
Baptisms, babies born, members married, John Piper, Wedgwood Outdoor Movies, Lake City Pioneer Days, and Sunday Services every week; a lot has happened in the last year since our people came together to build out Mars Hill Lake City and to do life together as God’s people on mission in Northeast Seattle. We have seen lives changed by Jesus and our God celebrated as a community. It’s time to turn up the volume as services grow to 9am, 11.15am & 5pm. As we ramp up for our fall launch there is so much to be thankful to Jesus for and so many ways we can praise Him for all that He is doing at Mars Hill Lake City.
My job at the campus is all about details and keeping things moving. I make sure the coffee is ordered, the direction signs are on the street, The Weekly gets handed out, and a hundred other little things, but as I look to filling the volunteer rolls of the 9am service I have to stop and thank Jesus.
We managed, by God’s Grace, to complete the project in time for our public launch this time last year. We have had the great blessing to see a strong core grow both numerically and in the grace of our Lord and Savior. We have had opportunities to worship Jesus by loving our church and our neighbors. And because of my detail-oriented job I have a chance to see up close and personal the many facets in which our campus has lived as a city within the city to the praise of the name of Jesus.
It is time to rally the troops again. I have seen God do incredible things in the last year with a small number of people who are willing to live as the church and as the body rather than consumers. I have seen what God chooses to do with a church on mission for the Gospel in Seattle. We are an organization run primarily on volunteers who are faithfully living out the Gospel. If you are not currently serving it is your turn to faithfully live as the church that we might see Seattle changed and our community function differently than the world. The metaphor that the church is a body is not a passive one, but an active one. It is your time to stand and be counted and experience first-hand what God is doing with Mars Hill Lake City.
In the last year we have been shown evidences of His Grace in every part of our community. We launched last fall with a small but strong core of Mars Hill members and now have the privilege of launching again with the 9am service. I know that I can speak for the core that is grown out of the few, that we all look forward to seeing what God will do as we free up more room and seats for more people to hear the word preached and get folded into our family.
