Loving Lake City
Galatians 5:13- For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.
As the Lake City Campus, we will be coming alongside Lake City in August. The community hosts a Seafair Summer festival on August 2 (www.lakecityfestival.com). We want to love people, by volunteering throughout the day, particularly on the back end with clean up – everyone’s least favorite job. We’re not picking up the tab, but we can pick up the trash. Mars Hill member Jason Haggard is managing the afternoon/evening shift of volunteers for the event so we even get to help in organization. It’s important that committed members participate by signing up to help. Signups will be available after services or you can sign up using this wufoo form.
“Mars Hill Church lives for Jesus as a city within the city; knowing culture, loving people, and seeing lives transformed to live for Jesus”. This statement stands as a contextual complement for the great commission given to us by Jesus in Matthew 28. All Christians are to be imitators of God, and at Mars Hill we live that out in various expressions of the statement above. The constant tension is that, much like our culture, a mission statement can become a catch-phrase. It’s important to think, pray, and act on this individually and corporately as a congregation. Thanks to all those walking AS the church, putting actions to the words that our church lives by for Jesus’ fame.

What a great way to witness to our neighbors, just as a ministry of service (or is that redundant?) to our community!
