Dwelling & Doing episode 2: Love is Action
Are you loving like Jesus? Do you even know what love IS?
When you get to the 15th chapter in the book of John, Jesus has been enjoying the Last Supper with his Disciples, revealing that He is the way, the truth, and the life – the only path to reconciliation with God, our Creator. Soberly, Jesus has also predicted His imminent betrayal and death. He promises that the Holy Spirit will come, and the disciples are filled with mixed emotions. Jesus describes his relationship with them as a vine with branches, an intimate connection from which love manifests.
Why talk about love, some might ask; the second part of this series should be about DOING. Exactly the point. Dwelling and Doing ARE love… not that wishy-washy, Gossip Girl CW thing called love, the kind you get a shot at with Tela Tequila or Bret Michaels or New York. The world loves to perpetuate a myth, a lie… a pre-packaged sugar sweet spiritual tooth decay called “LOVE” gift wrapped in tickets to misery, sorrow and hell. God is not “in” love with us. God loves us. That difference is everything. People treat love like it’s something they stumble into, an unexpected accident and then wonder why it ends up a train wreck. That’s why Christians look at JESUS, who says “Abide in me”, and then transitions to talking about love and loving each other WELL.
