UPDATED! Playing Soccer in NE Seattle is a great way to meet new friends
Get out some frustration after that long day in the cubicle… or, not matter where you work, join friends and neighbors and get connected in the community by teaming up to be part of MHC | Sports soccer league. The first night is this Friday, January 18! The first game starts Friday the 25th and you’re welcome to come and watch with pastors, friends and family.
Desiring to engage the community in meaningful ways as our campus creates a presence in the neighborhood,
Phil Hart has kickstarted – seriously, no pun intended – MHC | Sports to foster friendships and create conversation around shared hobbies and active, healthy activity. One does not need to be a church member to participate; church attendees, their co-workers, local residents… ALL are welcome.
After 8 weeks of soccer, the attention will move from soccer to indoor volleyball, and in the spring softball will be the leagues of choice. Summer may include Ultimate frisbee and more.
Interested in playing soccer or upcoming events like volleyball or softball? To get in the information loop, email Phil Hart, the coordinator for MHC | Sports.
UPDATE! I just got back from the inaugural night of MHC | Soccer at Magnuson Park, as three sets of 15 took turns registering and getting instructions, running drills, and scrimmaging. A nice mix of Mars Hill folks, co-workers, and acquaintances gathered at Arena Sports and kicked things off (literally). It was a good time to meet some people that worked and lived in the area and enjoy the cold, but fun, environment! The games are indoor, but the warehouse isn’t heated, so wear your warmer outfit! A few people in shorts were shivering and sweating… but no one really seemed to care. It was a great start to a great season.

[...] Mars Hill hate sports, you ask? Okay, we really don’t. Many of us LOVE sports (In fact, we have a sports ministry). I’m not sure anybody loves American Gladiators, but that’s hardly a sport. Sunday, however, [...]
